TBA News Michael Brashear, TBA Executive Director conn-selmer ad? R HAND-CRAFTED INSTRUMENTS FOR SUPERIOR MUSICAL PERFORMANCE conn-selmer.com Thank YOU for attending TBA 2019! I am happy to report that our attendance was up compared to 2018 with over 2700 active and retired members, spouses and family in attendance. Add the student day attendees, boosters, performing bands and demonstration groups and TBA’s total was over 5500. Including the exhibitors and choir and orchestra attendees, we had over 10,500 attend the summer music conventions! Texas music educators are dedicated to improving their skills and our students will reap the benefits! Our Board of Directors is committed to offering you the very best possible summer convention. We appreciate all who took time to complete our survey. Your feedback is valued and will help as we plan for next year. If you have an idea for a clinic, visit our website and submit your suggestion. We want to hear from you so we can best meet your needs for professional development. Thanks to all our wonderful clinicians for your outstanding presentations this summer. We appreciate schools who brought demonstration groups to share their talent with our attendees. The concerts were spectacular, and everyone left inspired to achieve even higher musical standards with their bands this year. TBA directors spent over 18,000 hours attending clinics, concerts and exploring products in our exhibit hall. We appreciate our business members and exhibitors and count on your support each year. Please review the list of TBA Exhibitors on pages 28-29 and support them with your business. I offer a huge thanks to all our sponsors and special recognition to our Premier Sponsor Perform America/Ultimate Drill Book, and our Patron Sponsors TMF Tour & Travel and Conn Selmer. TBA is proud to partner with YBDT to meet the needs of young band directors. Several articles published in this magazine focus on topics that should be helpful to young directors. I encourage all of you to find your special mentor. One of the reasons that Texas bands are the envy of the world is that experienced directors are always willing to share ideas and to serve as mentors. Have a great fall semester!
