Position Title: Director of Bands

Position Description: Austin College’s Music Department invites applications for a dynamic and charismatic Director of Bands. This full-time position will take over leadership of the college’s concert band and will create a pep band, which will perform at selected athletic events throughout the year. In addition to leadership of these ensembles, the successful candidate will spend a significant portion of their time in recruiting for the band program. The band director will expand prior connections and relationships and building new ones with high school band directors and students with the goal of making Austin College a place to come for band students who major in music or just want to continue music while in college. All Austin College music ensembles are open to all Austin College students by audition without consideration of major. Other duties, including applied teaching and occasional classroom course teaching, determined by department need and candidate qualifications. Doctorate preferred however a Masters with experience will be considered. Austin College is a selective liberal arts college with a music faculty of four full-time and seven adjunct.
