Primary Purpose: Caldwell ISD is looking for an energetic and hardworking individual seeking to contribute to our band program. Prefer someone with Middle School teaching experience, strong classroom management skills (due to size of classes) and ATSSB/TMEA memberships.

Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
Valid Texas teaching certificate
Demonstrated competency in instrumental music
Current automatic external defibrillator (AED) certificate
CDL (preferred)

Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of overall operation of instrumental music program
Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Knowledge of state and UIL policies governing band
Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
Ability to interpret data and evaluate instructional programs and teaching effectiveness
Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills

Experience:
1-3 years of experience (preferred) with woodwind or percussion background.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional Management
1. Encourage and support student performances, exhibits, and other displays of student work.
2. Provide for High School and Middle School band participation at extracurricular events, including concerts, all games, pep rallies, parades, UIL and activities throughout the year.
3. Support band booster club activities.
4. Use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned. Present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
5. Responsible for administrative duties on the Middle School campus to include, scheduling of contests, paperwork and programming for all Middle School bands.
6. Assist with 6th grade beginning band.
7. Direct and manage program for 7th and 8th grade bands.
8. Must be willing to contribute time outside of class and after school in preparing students for contests and auditions (individual after school lessons/sectionals/rehearsals).
Classroom and Personnel Management
9. Create an environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
10. Manage student discipline in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
11. Accompany and supervise students on out-of-town trips activities and arrange transportation, lodging, and meals for out-of-town events.
12. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Student Growth and Development
13. Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
14. Be a positive role model for students and support mission of the school district.
Communication
15. Establish and maintain a positive professional relationship and open communication with principals, teachers, staff, parents, and community members.
16. Establish and maintain a positive professional relationship and open communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community members.
Professional Growth and Development
17. Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
18. Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as assigned by building principal and/or Band Director.
19. Comply with federal and state laws, State Board of Education rule, UIL rules, and board policy in the band area.

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals; automated external defibrillator (AED)
Posture: Prolonged sitting/standing; frequent kneeling/squatting; bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
Motion: Repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching; frequent walking/marching
Lifting: Regular moderate lifting and carrying (15-44 pounds); may lift and move musical instruments
Environment: Work outside and inside; exposure to extreme temperatures (hot, cold and inclement weather), humidity, and prolonged sunlight/ work on uneven or slippery surfaces; frequent exposure to noise
Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hours; frequent district and statewide travels
