Position Description
• Applied Cello Private Lesson Teaching at the college level
• Coordinates with the Director of Instrumental Music and the String Orchestra and Chamber Strings Director.
Reports to: Derrick Logozzo, Department Chair of Music, Director of Instrumental Music
Potential Start Date: August 21, 2017
Length of Position: Negotiable
Pay Rate:
• Paid by the district at $379 per credit hour

Program Success:
Strong collegiate music program with several unique course offerings and over 18 performing ensembles including Wind Symphony, Orchestra, Chamber Ensembles (Woodwind, Brass, Percussion, Strings, Piano), Chamber Singers, Women’s and Men’s Choral Groups, Jazz Singers, Fusion Band, and Steel Bands in a department with approximately 500 music students regularly enrolled. Preparation for several major concerts and solo and ensemble festivals and auditions occurs year-round. Requirements of Candidates
• Master’s Degree
• Professional Performing Experience and Focus
• Team Teaching capability in the college environment
• Teaching Experience in the college/university environments preferred
• Excellent Communication and Organizational Skills
Audition/Interview
• Complete an audition/interview process
• Audition with solo works as needed
• Must teach a short lesson with a student as possible
• Discuss pedagogy and concepts with the staff

The Richland College Department of Music in Dallas, TX is currently seeking a cello instructor for applied teaching for the Fall 2017 Semester. Responsibilities for this adjunct position include mainly teaching Applied Cello as well as coordinating student curriculum within the department. Qualified applicants are those who possess a Master’s Degree in Music, have an interest in developing a college studio of students at this time, and are active professional performers. Teaching experience in the college/university environment is preferred. Essential skills include team teaching, excellent communication, and organization. The Richland College Music Department is a strong music program with several unique course offerings such as Digital Music and Composition and many performing ensembles including Wind Symphony, Orchestra, Chamber Ensembles for Woodwinds, Brass, Percussion, Strings, and Piano, as well as Chorale, Gospel Choir, Jazz Singers, Fusion Band and Steel Bands in a department with approximately 500 music students regularly enrolled. Preparation occurs for several major concerts and events each semester. Candidates will complete an audition/interview process that includes performing a solo work, teaching a short lesson, and discussing pedagogy and recruiting with the music faculty. Interview/Audition appointments will be scheduled with qualified applicants.
